Only Girl is a soulful young artist, emerging from the DIY music scene of South East London, honing her own brand of emotional, understated pop, infused with R&B & gospel melodies.
Her music began to take shape after being introduced to long term collaborators Zero 7, finding a strong songwriting connection with the duo, who went on to produce many of her early singles & feature her on their own releases.
Recently signing to London indie label Lemon Records, she released her debut EP ‘Bittersweet’ in April (supported by the PRS Momentum Music fund), achieving strong support, including features on Spotify New Music Friday UK for 2 of the tracks, Notion, Line of Best Fit, The Independent & BBC Introducing. The visuals for EP track Mountain clocked up an impressive 100K views in just one day after an interview on BBC Entertainment, detailing the poignant meaning behind the song, went viral.
She recently travelled to Austin, Texas to promote the EP and play at the prestigious SXSW festival; her debut show in the US, with the trip also being supported by the PRS International Showcase fund.
To date she has has garnered widespread support across BBC Introducing London, Spotify, BBC Radio 1 & Radio 2 (recording a live session for Dermot O Leary), BBC6 Music and online tastemakers including Fader, Clash, Mahogany & Red Bull Music and featuring on releases with Zero 7, Kultur & Kitty Cash Love the Free mixtape.
The past 18 months have seen her debut performance on UK TV on The Nightly Show (ITV) and playing sold out headline shows in London at the Courtyard Theatre, Electrowerkz & The Borderline, with key live dates supporting Jamila Woods on her European tour as well as previous dates with James Vickery, Broods, Fenne Lily, Royce Wood Junior, Jessy Lanza and festivals including Glastonbury, Live at Leeds, Leefest & The Great Escape; receiving high praise for her live show across the board.
Only Girl recently premiered a live, acoustic version of the Bittersweet EP on The Line of Best Fit and is currently working on her next release with Lemon Records for 2018.
